In Cameroon , smoking takes alarming proportions. According to the global survey on smoking among adults (Global Adult Tobacco Survey , GATS 2013) , 8.9 % of adults in total ( 1.1 million people ) currently use tobacco products, approximately 39.7% ( 6.72 million people) are exposed to tobacco smoke in the public place , ” he said. Before adding ” 80.4 % of adults are in favor of a smoking ban in all indoor public places and spending on manufactured cigarettes , represent on average 8.9% of monthly GDP [ 2013] per capita . ”
Facing the magnitude of the public health problem smoking, Cameroon Coalition against Tobacco ( C3T ) invites Cameroonians to mobilize for the adoption of an anti smoking law .
